Download Tape

Following his three episode series promoting his new tape, Hannibal recently blessed aspiring MC’s as well as hip hop heads with the sequel to his Villains Gone Mad instrumental series.  I had a chance to listen to the tape in it’s entirety this morning, and if you’re looking to vibe out/rap to some soulful cuts, you should do the same.

Mac Miller | K.I.D.S.

August 20th, 2010

I’ve been letting this tape bump pretty consistently lately and it’s become clear to me that the kid may be on to something. Above is the newest mixtape from recent Rostrum Records signee (Taylor Gang affilliate) Mac Miller called “K.I.D.S. (Kickin’ Incredibly Dope Shit) and the young boy from Pittsburgh does just that. On the 17 track offering he rips through melodic beats reminiscent of the old school while demonstrating a flow that shines even among some of the brighter names of today’s crowd. Do yourself a favor and checkout this tape and you’re sure to be bumping, if you’re looking for a crash course on the kid check after the jump for his recent Shade 45 and Toca Tuesdays freestyles.

The track above was previewed by $pitta last night on Ustream and he’s been teasing it’s release all day but finally we have the newest (first?) leak from Pilot Talk 2 called “4 Hours and 20 Minutes (Ride to H-Town)” and this one features Killa Kyleon who was also on Kush x OJ. “Jet life ’till the next life” indeed, also this one was produced by Young Los who is known for his work in the past with Max B.

Here’s a new visual from The Cool Kids off of last year’s Don Cannon collaboration tape “Gone Fishing” and even though a little bit late this one is still funky so enjoy.

Kill Superman : Episode 2 from VisualHighLife on Vimeo.

Above is the latest teaser from a very talented producer by the name of Hannibal King and Visual High Life for his upcoming beat tape “Villains Gone Bad 2: Kill Superman”. Also you can check after the jump for part one of the teasers.

Here we have the visuals to one of the standout songs from “Kush x OJ” Wiz’s critically acclaimed mixtape and this one is called “Never Been”. A personal favorite of mine Wiz and the Taylor Gang take it to the strip club for this one so enjoy the vibe as well as some tatted up eye candy.

Trademark – 10th Wonder from Creative Control on Vimeo.

This video dropped a few minutes ago courtesy of the DD172 blog and Trademark’s twitter and so we bring it to you here on Too Fortunate, the new visual to the song “10th Wonder” and it’s a banger. Trade has been teasing us with this one for a few days and apparently has a few other videos in store along with the several he’s dropped already from his critically acclaimed mixtape “Issue 2: The Supervillain.” If you’re sleeping on dude now is a great time to wake up because he’s been doing big things lately…Issue 3 is up next.

For starters I’m one of those neurotic music fans who considers a well constructed mixtape to be an album; it’s the reason tapes like So Far Gone, Auditory Consensus, and now More About Nothing will be filed under the album category in my iTunes. Moving on……..Wale, Wale, Wale long time no see my good man. I think this review is a little different because once there is a bit of history involved with an artist and this is a deep rooted history. I was first introduced to Wale though the site Niketalk. Heard some of his music and felt maybe this could go somewhere, coincidentally I took a trip down to Maryland that same weekend and actually saw him in person at Downtown Locker Room (their version a Jimmy Jazz x Foot Locker). Sadly I felt alone in my appreciation of the DMV native’s work; ironically it wasn’t till I met fellow Too Fortunate writer Sco D. that I knew I wasn’t alone in the world.

Fast forward a couple of years a few mixtapes a couple of Twitter absences and a hairstyle change and now we are at a crossroads. With the acclaim yet underselling of his debut album Attention Deficit; Wale found himself at the same point in his career that many artists find themselves. Does he go back to the lab and rework the formula or go back to his roots and remember what got you to the promised land. Thankfully he went with the latter and thus the whole no days off Twitter campaign was created. After what seemed to be a few years away from the Internet (in actuality turned out to be a mere month or so) a follow up to last year’s Mixtape About Nothing was delivered. More About Nothing picks up where it’s predecessor left of with stellar “original” production, sharp wordplay, and the notorious Sienfeld quips through out. The album is loaded with songs that would have no problem making it to any play list whether it be the “Loud pack” to “Put It On Her” varieties. I know I’ve been quite critical of Mr. Folorin in the past but I’m one to give credit where it is deserved and this tape warms my heart like a properly done Jordan Retro release. With features ranging from Wiz Khalifa to Roscoe Dash, Fat Trell and………..Waka Flock Flame, it might seem Wale went a little left field but it all fits into the ongoing “Nothing” theme. So all in all good job chum, and keep up the good work. Head on over to Moreaboutnothing.com to download that tape!

Here we have a new leak from the long awaited Ski Beatz mixtape “24 Hour Karate School” and while the setbacks have caused Ski to receive some flack, if this track is any indication the wait will be well worth it. In the meantime just click play and enjoy the treat.

Here we have a new track from Drake off the upcoming mixtape “No More Thank Yous” (I guess) and despite an average mixtape title this song “Do It All” is pretty hot. Produced by Rob Holladay it really showcases Drake at his best spitting introspective lyrics mixed with an R&B hook for a real laid back vibe.
