Too Fortunate

A lot of kids growing up in my generation hear the name “Ken Griffey Jr.” and the words that usually follow are “That’s my favorite player”. Often known as “The Kid” Ken Griffey Jr. was known for hitting the ball very far as well as being athletic and perhaps the best center fielder of his generation. In commemoration of his retirement and to celebrate his legacy Nike recently released this commercial “Goodbye, Baseball” enjoy.

The above is both random and cool.

World freediving champion Guillaume Nery had for some time wanted to establish a link between his sport — which requires diving to incredible depths on a single breath — and BASE jumping, which involves free-falling and parachuting from stationary objects.

Thanks to exceptional camerawork by fellow French freediver Julie Gautier, Nery has succeeded in breathtaking fashion.

The pair took advantage of a recent visit to Dean’s Blue Hole west of the Bahamas, in Gautier’s words, “to make a short movie.”

In this new commercial, honoring Kobe Bryant’s quest for a 5th ring, Nike has put together a mash-up of some of the all time greats in their individual runs at a ring. Also featured in the commercial is Andre 3000 covering a Beatles song “All Together Now” which you can watch them perform from their “Yellow Submarine” movie after the jump

Can you tell I was a Griffey fiend? A while back pics of these kicks first hit the net and had a lot of sneakerheads calling it the best colorway of the Griffey 1’s yet! Sneakerheads are familiar with this shoe, the Nike Air Diamond Turf which was originally Dieon Sanders’ first signature kicks in 1993. As a kid who could forget the feverish buzz Monday mornings after a Jordan drop to see which kid(s) in school had the juice. Well most college kids don’t have school Monday but you can still make your homies jealous if they see you in these bad boys which drop today. Rock them if you’re ready.

Man, the memories this evokes.. I remember being 7 years old in North Carolina visiting my grandmother around the time this dropped.  We were driving around N.
